New for 2020!  Coffee & Mask sales!

Since 1989, Christmas Cheer has been supporting the Burnaby Christmas Bureau.  Christmas Cheer is the longest running service club at Burnaby North. Since its inception, we have raised over $300,000 for the Burnaby Christmas Bureau.  Each year, the club goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000.

Last year was a record year, with our students raising over $17,500 towards this charity.

With the pandemic this year, our summer fundraising efforts were put on pause.  As we near our deadline for this year, we are asking our school community to come together and help us raise money for our local Christmas Bureau.

There are THREE WAYS to help in 2020.

  • Make a cash donation through through SchoolCashOnline.

    • Donations over $20 will be eligible for a tax receipt from Burnaby Community Services, but only donations made through SchoolCashOnline will add to our Christmas Cheer fundraising goal.

      • Payments are accepted with Visa or Mastercard (credit not debit) or via eCheque electronic transfer from your bank account.
  • Purchase coffee or hot chocolate mix from our fundraiser through a local coffee roaster. (Orders due Nov. 30)

  • Purchase reusable masks for only $5.00 from Mr. Sokugawa in Room 211 or from the office (Room 114 – Ask for Ms. Goss or Ms. Dion)

Christmas Cheer is the longest running service club at Burnaby North.  Established in 1989 by Barry Street, Christmas Cheer has been helping the Burnaby Christmas Bureau each year. Christmas Cheer actually started earlier as a sub-committee from Spirit Committee and it became its own entity in 1989.  Since 1989, the club has raised an average of $10,000 each year.  CHEX (the Cheer Executive group) organizes the incredible fundraising campaign on behalf of the school.

In a normal year, Christmas Cheer meets every each week from mid-September to December.  Students can participate in the various sub-groups which include: marketing, publicity, baking and sewing.  Students organize lunchtime bake sales, sew Santa hats and stockings, make decorations, and organize fund raising events. All students are welcome to participate.  Over 100 students sign up each year making Christmas Cheer one of the largest clubs in the school.
