Making BNS a #PeriodPositive Environment

Did you know that in developing countries, many young students miss school during their period because they do not have access to menstrual health products, toilets, and hand washing facilities? Even in places like Burnaby, students often miss some class time because they have to track down friends in other classes who might have spare menstrual products because these products are not available in washrooms. Asking a teacher or receptionist for a menstrual pad or tampon can be embarrassing and there is no reason why students should have to disclose their health status to receive necessary supplies.

In Spring 2018, we began a campaign to make BNS more equitable for students of all genders by addressing the lack of menstrual health support available in school facilities. We are making emergency menstrual management products (tampons & pads) available for free in all the Universal, Girls’, and Women’s lavatories. We hope that by making these products available, school members will be able to better focus on their work and be less likely to miss class time when they find themselves without the necessary supplies.

If you are in a lavatory and notice a Period Pack that needs refilling, please report it to the office by contacting Ms Rubino at 604-296-6875 ext. 604005 OR by clicking on the links in the table below.
