Christmas Cheer is the longest running service club at Burnaby North. Established in 1989 by Barry Street, Christmas Cheer has been helping the Burnaby Christmas Bureau each year. Christmas Cheer actually started earlier as a sub-committee from Spirit Committee and it became its own entity in 1989. Since 1989, the club has raised an average of $10,000 each year. CHEX (the Cheer Executive group) organizes the incredible fundraising campaign on behalf of the school.
In a normal year, Christmas Cheer meets every each week from mid-September to December. Students can participate in the various sub-groups which include: marketing, publicity, baking and sewing. Students organize lunchtime bake sales, sew Santa hats and stockings, make decorations, and organize fund raising events. All students are welcome to participate. Over 100 students sign up each year making Christmas Cheer one of the largest clubs in the school.
