Are you moving to another Burnaby School? to another District? or graduating this June?
Make sure you know how to save your digital work before you leave.
For Students Leaving Burnaby SD41 at End-Of-Year (Graduating or Transferring to another district)
Students leaving the district at end of year will lose access to their Microsoft 365 accounts over the summer. This will impact access to other district issued accounts. Please remind students to:
- Backup your H: drive network files: This is most easily done AT SCHOOL. Log into a school computer and open File Explorer. Open your H:/ folder. Save anything you want to keep by copying it to an external USB Flash drive, an external HardDrive, or by uploading it to a personal account in a cloud service like OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox.
- Transfer OneDrive files to a personal account: Microsoft Guide: Transition Your Files
- You can also backup your OneDrive files at home using the OneDrive app. Open the folders you want to backup & copy the files to either a) a local folder on your personal computer or b) a folder on your device that syncs to another cloud service (Personal OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.)
- Move Canva designs to a personal account: Canva Help: Transfer Designs
- Transfer Adobe Creative Cloud files to a personal account: Adobe Student File Transfer
- Update their SpacesEDU email to a personal one to retain access to their “All Work” feed: SpacesEDU: Update Student Email
Microsoft Class Teams (all leaving the district at end of year)
- District-created Teams will be auto-archived in the first two weeks of July, so you will lose access to these files BEFORE your account is archived. Posts may still be visible while your account is active, but you won’t be able to post any more or download files.
Microsoft Teams (changing schools but staying in Burnaby SD41)
- If you are leaving a school or changing roles you can leave any MS Teams that you no longer need to access: Leave a team in Microsoft Teams – Microsoft Support.
