Since 1989, Christmas Cheer has been supporting the Burnaby Christmas Bureau. Christmas Cheer is the longest running service club at Burnaby North. Since its inception, we have raised over $300,000 for the Burnaby Christmas Bureau. Each year, the club goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000.
Our Donation Drive begins in December, but you can start supporting now by supporting our other Christmas Cheer fundraisers.
During the 2023 Donation Drive there will be TWO WAYS to donate.
Make a donation (cash or cheque only) in your designated block to participate in the class contest. The class in each grade with the largest donation will win a pizza party in 2024.
- Class collections will take place on TBA
Make a donation through through SchoolCashOnline. Payments will be accepted with Visa or Mastercard (credit not debit) or via eCheque electronic transfer from your bank account.
Donations of $20 or more (donated at the same time for class collections) will be eligible for a tax receipt from Burnaby Community Services. Students donating during a class collection must include their donation with their name & address to request a receipt. NOTE: Only donations made through classroom collections or SchoolCashOnline will add to our Christmas Cheer fundraising goal; donations made directly to Burnaby Community Services or via CanadaHelps are welcome but won’t count towards our collective goal.
Christmas Cheer is the longest running service club at Burnaby North. Established in 1989 by Barry Street, Christmas Cheer has been helping the Burnaby Christmas Bureau each year. Christmas Cheer actually started earlier as a sub-committee from Spirit Committee and it became its own entity in 1989. Since 1989, the club has raised an average of $10,000 each year. CHEX (the Cheer Executive group) organizes the incredible fundraising campaign on behalf of the school.
In a normal year, Christmas Cheer meets every each week from mid-September to December. Students can participate in the various sub-groups which include: marketing, publicity, baking and sewing. Students organize lunchtime bake sales, sew Santa hats and stockings, make decorations, and organize fund raising events. All students are welcome to participate. Over 100 students sign up each year making Christmas Cheer one of the largest clubs in the school.
The Burnaby Christmas Bureau coordinates donations from the Burnaby Community over the holiday season to help break the cycles of poverty and isolation.
The Burnaby Christmas Bureau offers brand new gifts for children of families with low income, as well as hampers for seniors and unique individuals.
